Europe’s unity and diversity presented in Bulgaria’s capital
On April 17 2007 Sofia Art Gallery opened an exhibition dedicated to Bulgaria’s EU accession and the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.
State Institute of Culture under the Foreign Minister, in co-operation with the embassies of EU countries to Bulgaria, organised the exhibition. Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin opened the exhibition.
The exhibition europe.art presents 57 works of art by 40 Albanian, Belgian, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Serbian, Swedish, Turkish and UK artists.
All works are provided from the collections of Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry and the embassies.
Kalfin said that the embassies of Albania, Serbia and Turkey were invited to take part in the initiative to demonstrate Bulgaria’s support for the EU accession of the Balkan countries.
The exhibition features works of different ages and styles to achieve EU’s main goal, unity and diversity.
If a united European household existed, it would pretty much look like this expo, Kalfin said.
The exhibition is opened until May 27 2007, from 10am to 6pm, Sunday from 11am to 5pm, Monday is day off. Entrance is free.
