You want enticing aromas and tasty dishes to enchant your family and guests, not pungent garlicky hands. This stylishly sculpted garlic press feels good in your palm. Once the garlic is pressed, turn the handle the other way around, and little rubber nodules push the remaining garlic particles out, so keeping your fingers sweet-smelling. To peel the garlic, place a clove on a cutting board and gently slam it with the flat side of a chef’s knife, bursting the skin so the clove can be removed easily. This garlic press by Spanish brand Iris, Amara series, can be found at Glass House at 6 Vassil Levski Blvd, or City Center Sofia (CCS) mall on Cherni Vruh, level 3. Price 21 leva.

No wet saladNo wet salad?
You pine for pre-packaged, triple-washed spring lettuce mix, yet there you are, hand- washing leaves, shaking droplets off, and arranging your lettuce on a kitchen towel and blotting with another, and so three batches for one lettuce! A salad spinner, virtually unheard of by Bulgarians, dries salad leaves quickly and in a fun manner. Kuchenprofi plastic salad spinner with a cord traction system, is available in orange, red and black and can be found at Glass House at 6 Vassil Levski Blvd, or CCS on Cherni Vruh Blvd, level 3. Price 26 leva.

You've had enough of the basic salt and pepper shakers, you long for something aesthetic on your table, something to suit a bouquet of flowers, or even replace them. These English bathtub-inspired salt and pepper mills are both charming and stylish, and freshly ground spices offer quite a bit more flavour. Made from superior crystal clear acrylic, the pepper mill has a stainless steel grinding mechanism, and the sea salt mill has an anti corrosion nylon one, both offering fine to coarse grinds, and with a lifetime warranty. Cole & Mason salt and pepper mill set can be found at Genesis, 186 Vitosha Blvd, 90 Alexander Staboliiski Blvd, CCS, and Mall of Sofia. Price 41 leva.
