Post subject: Septic tank, one for the tradesman |
|
|
Hi guys,
We have just inspected our septic tank at our new house and unfortunately it will not suffice for our future needs.
I am a Civil Engineer by trade and have installed quite a few septic tanks so the mechanics of the system is not an issue, sourcing a proper underground tank seems to be!! I do not want a reinforced concrete tank, they are time consuming to install and winter is a bad time to be casting.
We are in Chirpan, 35 mins to Stara Zagora and 35 mins from Plovdiv.
Can anyone recommend a supplier in the area.
I have seen the Poly tanks in Praktiker etc and whilst they would suffice in a pinch I would prefer something more robust and suitable for a single tank or dual tank system. Total capacity 1000 gallon.
I can source the pipes, chamber, terram and stone locally.
Any advice gratefully received.

Hi Tom, There is an Italian supplier in Plovdiv that sells all your needs called Profil, its a huge new place near the new Metro. I had dealings with the mayor of Chirpan last year before the euro money was cancelled to provide a new water supply, One of the better mayors!!, great place!!. I can get the big 1M3 chemical containers from Solvex if any good? or on the ring road to the south of Sofia they manfacture HDPE tanks of all sizes. Peter |

If you come out of the car park of the new Metro and turn left, then about 100M to a huge new roundabout with a Shell garage, take the last turning off the roundabout going back east into Plovdiv. Profil is a huge new building on the left, cant miss it. Speak English too!.
Klargester type septic tanks are expensive and dont do any more than than just a tank. Its a difficult subject without an ideal solution. Its easier to treat say 10 houses effectively than just one. An activated sludge system works well but needs a constant supply, what happens on holidays or away for the weekend, the thing dies!. The other big problem is the variation in temperature here. A good natural, safe way for solids is composting and letting the worms help, a good size soakaway away from your house including all your shower, kitchen, rainwater through is best. Peter |

Hi Johnny123
Do you know if the ban on soakaways is for new builds only or includes renovations as I've been informed that the latter is ok
Regards Graham. |

HI Jonny,
I am interested in this also?
Sparky was talking about separating the grey water to a soakaway and then having a dry pit for the solids and allowing worms to digest, not a leach pit which I know is illegal.
I am about to install a true septic system in my garden with a waterproof settlement tank and then a soakaway for the fluids only.
If it is illegal I guess I need to rethink!!
