Hello all,

Thanks in advance for your opinion!
I am Bulgarian living in England, having indefinite leave to remain visa and have the rights to apply for British Citizenship and British Passport-cost £700!!!He is American. What is the best way for getting married and where-England or Bulgaria?Do you think the best is to apply for British Passport first.Would be easier if I have British passport before marriage?Waiting time to get British passport is about 10 months...but if it is easier to go to America it is worthy I think..

Thanks,
Gery

I think you would be better off getting married in the U.K. Less Hassles.

Hi Sparky
nice to talk to you today. As I mentioned, I answered your last post early this morning, but it seems to have grown legs and vanished.....maybe someone doesn't like my brand of humour!!!!

I really enjoyed chatting to you today. Did you see aziz's wedding on TV?. Ive come to realise that anything can happen on here. Sometimes its like talking to yourself or talking to a brick wall. I think Im missing watching Coronation Street|. I visited my mother just before Christmas and hadnt been back for 6 months. I watched coronation street and it was as if I hadnt missed one episode!. Sorry Bazz, Coronation street is like Australian Neighbours but instead of being in the sun its in the rain. Forgot your an Ausie!. Its only you and Arnij that has any sense of humour. Come on people we can take what we give!!!Just try
Try saying Peter picked a pickled pepper in Bulgarian!

My so to be wife and I have to agree its nice to hear we arent the only ones going through this hellish process, it really is a huge stress on everyone. But my question is im a us national and shes bulgarain adn I dont want to have us go back to the us yet I want to stay here. I have a company here that wants to hire me and they claim after we marry and file all the paper work i can set up for a bulgarian ID card and they can hire me and i just want someone thoughts on is there something missing or at least the details about what can happen for us after we marry here in sofia and we dont really want to file to have us go to the us but stay here! Any help would be great. And if something i wrote isnt in enough detail i would be happy to send the e-mails from the company i am tlaking to and the embassies!

Once you get married you become a family member of a Bulgarian citizen and it is stated on the new ID's. I am in the same situation and I am also working here under a Bulgaria labor contract.

Would it be easier just to get married and move to BG? The U.S. Immigration process is long and complex. Once you get married to a Bulgarian citizen you could get your long term D visa for Bulgaria in about two months. As far as work goes I am sure there is some kind of work in Bulgaria for you both! If you have an office job ask your current employer if you can work at home! The internet connection in Bulgaria is pretty fast.. Good luck!

So the wedding all worked out the filing all worked out and then we were hit with what to do next, i cant work for the company without the visa but as i am marreid a lawyer said she could get us the paperwork done to let me stay legally, we have a few options and i just want to see if anyone has some advise (already everyone here has been helpful and i thank you for it)1. I file and stay for residence married to a bulgarian but i cant work ( im trying to find online jobs to pay while im here) 2. I return home with the papers to obtain a d-visa with a contract to the company im trying to work. 3. i just return home and work and get meony to file for my wife to come to the US. I am 3 months off my tourist visa and the lawyer says if we file i should be fine but if i choose to just return home i dont know what the standings are would i be fined that i would have to pay if i came bakc or would proof of marraige and information allow me to leave fine. I have caused no issues here and am just trying to do what's best 4 us

Sofialiving:

Since you are married you became a familiy member, by law you can work under a labor contract without a work permit and all you have to do is get the yearly extension for your I.D..
