Hi Garry,
Im no expert on this but apparently sky plus or HD will not work here. A standard digibox with the blue card with the little yellow house gives me ITV, 4,sky 3, channel five and few other things like true movies, news from them all etc.Cant help you anymore as this is only what i have gleaned from my sat instaler. Hope it helps,

You have to get the satellite on which they send and check here how much dB you need. Based on this you can calculate needed dish size and quality of LNB.
http://www.lyngsat.com/
The higher bitrate for HD does not matter - the frequency they send is the same. |

Hi, Just read the last post and couldnt make head nor tail of the Lyngstat link. I use a 1 metre dish and have no problems, but i do know people with HD etc who can get nothing unles i connect up my digibox and then everything is great.Only been here 4 years so am still in the learning stage, but 6 years ago while travelling in Spain and Portugal, my spare box a Galaxis FTA-3 picked up hotbird and several other sats with no problem. Still does it with the dish aimed at 28.2E.Limited English channels though.Tother bloke might be right but as far as im concerned the standard job bought off e-bay does the trick while all the updated, upmarket jobbies dont.I wouldnt take the chance, but its your money.
Good luck,
Mike |

As far i saw Sky HD UK is quite well known in the card sharing community. You need normaly a UK narrowband digital aware phoneline where the box download the keys.
Bulgarians seems to be very deep in this - like in other 'digital robbery' business. |

I'm not sure if you meant a SKY + Box with HD Ready TV or a SKY HD Box?
In either case, you should bring the Box matched to the card here as it is more of a problem pairing cards with boxes once here, but not insurmountable.
Dish size depends on location, but to receive the majority of SKY Channels you will be looking at around the 1.2 to 2 metre dishes. The quality of your LNB should also be taken into account.
I used to get SKY + channels as far east as Moscow with a 1.8 metre dish, but do not expect to receive all ITV Channels, BBC or Channel 4 as they beam out on the more parochial UK footprint. You might well be able to manually add some ITV channels to your box though.
For more specific information, I suggest you Google the Astra 28D and 28E forums where you will find everything you need to know. You should look into the new White cards and FreeSat too as there are some anomalies that occur here when changing from the Blue to White cards.
There are other options though as some of the Internet Providers here 'sell' SKY. You could also look at a Slingbox set-up from your UK home or a Dreambox set-up via your computer. The options for UK TV overseas are getting better each year. I am looking forward to getting my own SKY + and dish set-up once the house is finished being built. |
