Anti-crime centre to open in Bulgaria's capital
The first centre for prevention of criminal activity in Bulgaria would open in Sofia by the end of the year, police representative Tomi Iliev said.
Bulgaria would use the models functioning in Germany, the UK and other European countries for the setting up and functioning of such centres, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
Municipal administration representatives, police officers and representatives of non-governmental organisations would work in the centre and would provide advise on crime prevention and counteraction.
One of the main aims of the centre would be to increase awareness on drug addiction and on the protection of crime victims.
Tomov also said that the work strategy, part of which was the setting up of the centre, received European approval.
Bulgaria's Veliko Turnovo is currently the host of a Bulgarian-German seminar on anti-crime measures.
