Average salaries in Sofia 650 leva, 500 in Plovdiv and Bourgas

The average monthly salary for employees, employed in an average position, in the private sector in Sofia will be about 650 leva in 2008. In Varna for the same position, an employee will receive 600 leva and in Plovdiv and Bourgas around 500, according to an Industry Watch prognosis report for 2008, zagrada.bg said.

The report considered an average position a position that does not require any special knowledge, but only basic skills, like language skills, computer skills, and so on. According to Industry Watch, these average positions formed 46 per cent of the private sector labour market.

The average monthly salary of a low-qualified employee employed in a basic position in Sofia in 2008 would be about 400 leva. In Varna, Plovdiv and Bourgas it would be about 350 leva, according to Industry Watch's report.

Georgi Stoev of Industry Watch said they expected that as a whole, the salaries of low-qualified and average-position employees in the private sector would rise by 15-20 per cent in 2008 as compared to 2007 due to the increased investments in the economy.
