Bulgaria’s tourism to turn to Arab air companies

Tourism organisations from Bulgaria should shift their attention to the Arab air companies, State Agency for Tourism (SAT) head Anelia Kroushkova said during a meeting with tourism branch representatives.

Kroushkova said that 90 per cent of the air carriers in the world will belong to Arab companies within five years.

The expected decrease of 24 per cent in the number of tourists to visit Europe in the next 15 years is another trend Bulgarian tourism organisations should consider. Tourists will be interested in Asian countries, Krouskova said as quoted by Focus news agency.

“Bulgaria has to take into consideration the world’s trends in tourism, if it wants to develop successfully as an attractive tourism destination,” Kroushkova said.

Kroushkova said that soon, unified accommodation quality criteria will be introduced in Bulgaria and local hotels will have to defend their star rate.

SAT will offer municipalities and tourism organisations the introduction of regional divisions of the country as tourism product. The regions will be presented at international tourism forums according to tourist interest.
