Bulgaria's Maria Ilieva takes part in EU anniversary celebrations
Bulgarian singer Maria Ilieva was among the European performers to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the EU during a concert in Brussels on the night of March 24 2007.
Bulgarian National Television (BNT), together with 37 European and more than 50 world televisions aired live the concert called Stars of Europe.
Ileva appeared on the stage after the performances of world famous European singers such as Zucchero, Simply Red, Scala, The Scorpions, Miguel Angel Munoz, Gypsy King, Nadiya, and Lou Bega.
The concert hosts Bart Peeters and Fabienne Vande Meerssche announced Ilieva as a living proof of the beauties of Bulgaria.
Ilieva performed a little known song in English, which failed to reveal her real voice.
Still, the hosts were charmed by her performance and behaviour. Ilieva greeted Bulgarians in Bulgarian and continued answering the questions she was asked in fluent English, unlike the representatives of some other “older” EU member states.
