Cabinet in Bulgaria changes hotel rating regulations
Bulgaria’s Cabinet has ruled that only spa, wellness and business hotels may be eligible for four- and five-star ratings.
Authorities in Bulgaria decided to change the regulations on hotel and restaurant ratings to encourage specialist types of tourism, Focus news agency reported.
Current regulations fail to specify requirements for various types of accommodation.
The Cabinet listed a number of categories of hotels: business, spa, residence, club and balneology.
A business hotel should have the capacity to host working meetings, conferences, congresses, cocktails and seminars, Focus said.
Spa hotels should offer various water, aesthetic and cosmetic procedures and sport. A hotel with a spa or wellness centre with a number of services, procedures, therapies and hobby activities will be pronounced a wellness hotel.
Another class of hotels will be residential. They will have five-star ratings, comfort and non-traditional interiors.
A club hotel will be designated as a place for accommodation of tourists, differentiated according to various tourism activities.
