Construction permits in Sofia become 20 times more expensive

The fee for construction permit issuing in Sofia raised 20 times, mediapool.bg said.

The fee becomes 14 leva per sq meter for construction sites of more than 300 sq m, situated in the city centre.

Currently, investors pay 0.7 leva per sq m regardless of the location of the site, mediapool.bg said.

A fee differentiation will be introduces for the different types of buildings. Construction permits for a site in the city suburbs will cost eight leva per sq m, while the permit for residential building constriction of up to 300 sq m will cost 7 leva per sq m.

The new prices would bring 25 million leva to the Sofia municipal budget, mediapool.bg said.

Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov said that all income from construction permit fees will be utililised for infrastructure improvement.
