Flu epidemics declared in nine more Bulgarian regions
Flu epidemics affect further regions in Bulgaria and have been declared in nine more regions.
Pazardzhik, Stara Zagora, Sliven, Nova Zagora, Tvurditsa, Haskovo, Dimitrovgrad, Simeonovgrad and Topolovgrad declared epidemics on January 17.
Health Ministry told Bulgarian National Radio that other Bulgarian cities might reach the epidemic level of infections in the coming days.
Angel Kounchev, Health Ministry representative, said that the flu virus affected mostly people aged above 65. Children below five were also susceptible, said he.
High temperatures in the country aided the fast spread of the virus, said Kounchev as quoted by Focus news agency.
A number of schools and kindergartens already announced vacations to protect students.
Some of the schools in Nova Zagora and Tvurditsa stopped working. Kindergartens in Svishtov also closed doors for the children.
