Expat roadshow begins afresh
After a popular series of events last year – that included Sofia, Varna, Veliko Turnovo, Balchik and Bansko, the first expat in Bulgaria event of 2009 kicks off at the Sofia restaurant Chalet Suisse in Sofia at 6pm on Saturday March 7.
The event begins with a wine tasting between 6pm and 8pm. Guests can then enjoy an unusual set menu, featuring a starter salad followed by Raclette a discretion – a special Swiss dish brought to Bulgaria.
Raclette was mentioned in medieval writings as a particularly nutritious meal consumed by peasants in mountainous Switzerland. Traditionally, Swiss cowherds would take the cheese with them when moving cows to and from pastures up in the mountains. In the evenings around the campfire, they would place the cheese next to the fireplace and when it had reached the perfect softness, scrape it on top of some bread.
At Chalet Suisse, they will prepare the cheese for you in a special oven. They will heat half of a cheese wheel, scrape the melted mass off and serve the cheese with pickled onions, gherkins and small steamed potatoes, making for an unforgettable and authentic dining experience.
For dessert you can have Chalet Suisse cake, another Swiss speciality. The meal, accompanied by still and sparkling water, will cost a mere 30 leva. Children under the age of 16 will pay just 15 leva. Soft drinks and alcohol (apart from the wine tasting) are not included in the price.
Making a reservation is highly recommended because of limited places. Maximum capacity is for 60-70 people. Tel. 088/ 424 94 50 or e-mail info@chaletsuisse.eu to make your booking.
