GreenCat Gallery to hold art auction on February 22
GreenCat Gallery is organising its seventh international auction for modern and contemporary art on February 22 2009 at Arena di Serdica Residence Hotel, at 2-4 Budapeshta Str in Sofia. It starts at 6.30pm.
In addition to paintings by modern and past Bulgarian artists, the auction will feature a selection of rare books and first editions. Among them are works by authors such as Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas and Sir Walter Scott, as well as an interesting copy of a Book of Hours dating from about 1720, printed in the first Bulgarian printing house, founded by Yakov Kraikov.
The seventh auction will concentrate more on contemporary art names such as Valerio Adami, Nikolai Panayotov, Pierre Alechinsky, Petar Lazarov, Kanako Murakami, Ivailo Savov, Adalbert Gans, Spartak Yordanov and Nikolai Totev.
In keeping with the tradition of European auction houses, the GreenCat Gallery will offer low opening bids, with some of the works having an initial cost as low as one, five or 10 euro.
All works can be viewed in advance at Arena di Serdica Residence Hotel on Saturday February 21 from 10am until 6pm, and on Sunday from 10am until 2pm. Entry to the auction is free of charge; anyone interested can attend. For additional information, call 088/ 615 45 26.
