Happy times with the Expat BBQ in Veliko Turnovo
The sixth Expat BBQ, organised by ExpatinBulgaria.com and Andy's Foods, drew a jolly crowd to Shtastlivetsa Club and Bar in Veliko Turnovo on October 9.
ExpatinBulgaria.com, a Sofia Echo Media website dedicated to explaining Bulgaria to foreigners and providing a forum for discussion, and Andy's Foods, a British-owned and -operated importer of English food delights, which has since delved into making real English-style sausages locally out of “real meat” and delivering them around the country, come together regularly to host such parties.
The purpose? To give expats and anyone else interested an excuse to hang out, eat homemade bangers, drink a pint or two and talk about life. And, seeing a photo of oneself in the Social Corner of The Sofia Echo only helps to add to the fun memories.
The next such gathering is on November 1, when a roast-carvery will be held in Sofia at JJ Murphy's Irish Pub. Following is a November 4 Bonfire Night in Bansko at Avalon Hotel, organised by the local companies Creative Interiors and Chalet Orbelus. The all-you-can-eat barbeque buffet starts at 6pm; entrance is 15 leva.
A few days later, on Sunday November 9, the gatherings return to Sofia for a Remembrance Day celebration at 2030 Brasserie. From 10.30am, there will be commemoration at the British War Cemetery in Sofia, after which the German and French cemeteries will be visited.
The reception starts at 12.30pm at 2030 Brasserie in the Lozenets borough.
