One out of five young women in Bulgaria underweight
Nearly 20 per cent of Bulgaria’s women aged under 30 are underweight because of diets, national consultant on dietary feeding Stefka Petrova said.
The diet of Bulgarians is unhealthy and almost half of the population is overweight, Monitor daily said.
Research showed that nearly 20 per cent of the youngsters were overweight.
Men under the age of 30 were usually overweight, while women gained weight at an older age, Monitor said.
An anthropological profile of the Bulgarians prepared in 2006 showed that men weighted an average of 77.7 kg, while women weighted 65.3 kg.
Citizen of the region of Sofia and Montana were mostly overweight, but Sofia’s women were the slimmest, Monitor also said.
Usually the menu of the Bulgarians includes animal fats, while fish, vegetables, fruit and cereals are neglected.
