White River Film Festival screens more than thirty films

More than 30 films are being shown at the second Byala Reka (“White River”) International Short Film Festival, which ends on August 5.

So far, 26 films from eight countries have been screened at the festival, which is being held near the town of Kalofer in Central Balkan National Park. The films were from Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, Canada, Portugal, The Netherlands and Japan.

The organiser, the Solaris Visual Arts Association, expects that by the end of the festival more than 30 films will have been shown.

The festival is open to films from all genres, including documentaries, fiction, animated and experimental films.
There will be also a workshop. Over 36 hours, participants will shoot and edit five-minute films using their own technical equipment. These films will be screened on the final evening of the festival, and a jury will choose the best production. A special prize, provided by NEO Studio, will be the use of a movie camera for three days and editing facilities for five days to create a short film.

On the last day of the festival, the five best short films will be screened and will be given honorary diplomas, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported on July 26.
